Galen Benshoof Ward 1

Galen grew up in Bemidji, went to school on both coasts, and made his way back to Minnesota in 2016. He lives with his family in the Summit-University neighborhood, which they chose for its walkability and diversity. He is invested in boosting our city’s support of low-carbon lifestyles and its resiliency in the face of climate change, while ensuring that historically disadvantaged communities are not left behind. He dreams of city life that doesn’t revolve around automobiles and believes it’s never too late to correct the urban mistakes of the past.

In his free time, Galen enjoys hiking and riding bicycles, as well as exploring St. Paul’s many excellent neighborhoods, restaurants, and parks. Galen served on the Summit-University Planning Council for four years and works for the State of Minnesota, specializing in health policy.
