Michele Molstead Ward 1
After decades of getting around mostly by car, I rediscovered the bike as a transportation tool fifteen years ago. The street conditions for people riding bikes in my area led me to paying more attention to local and regional government, and ultimately landing a job in the transportation realm, where I worked with and listened to people talk about the need for more comfortable, useful spaces for traveling by bike, bus, and foot. Our region has so many organizations doing helpful work making it a more sustainable place. I've been happy to be involved with not only Sustain Saint Paul but also Move Minnesota, Move Minneapolis, the Saint Paul Bicycle Coalition, Our Streets, Mississippi Park Connection, and the Minnesota chapter of AARP. Helping construct partnerships, both obvious and unexpected. I want to bring an outsider's perspective and share my knowledge of and enthusiasm for spaces that work for more people. When I first started paying attention to the Ford Site after moving here eight years ago, seeing people care so much about our city that they would not only organize but do so in such a mindful fashion gave me hope.
