Help us support missing middle housing along Grand Avenue!

We’re asking for supporters to help us push progressive policy on low density multi-unit housing along Grand Avenue.

Take action now: Help us support missing middle housing along Grand Avenue!

On Wednesday, July 10th, the Saint Paul Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on amending Chapter 67 of the Legislative Code pertaining to the East Grand Avenue Overlay District.

This is where you come in.
We need your help! Attend this meeting, to show the city council that people care about East Grand Avenue, and advocate for some final policy tweaks that we have been working on! Check out our formal letter with suggested changes we sent to city council members recently.

What's Happening?
East Grand Avenue is subject to a 'zoning overlay', a set of additional rules that restrict building homes and businesses to a greater extent than the usual zoning rules. For more info see here and here. The Planning Commission worked on changing this, and after years of effort the proposal is finally in front of the city council. This is where you come in. We need your help - attend this meeting, to show the city council that people care about East Grand Avenue, and to advocate for some final policy tweaks that we have been working on! Because of the need for multiple housing options around the city and especially along Grand Avenue, Sustain Saint Paul encourages members to support this effort.

How can you support this? There are 2 ways:

  • July 7-9: Send a written public comment by email to all of the Saint Paul city council members: Contact-Council@ci.stpaul.mn.us. Try to send your email ASAP, and no later than noon Tuesday, July 9.

  • Wednesday, July 10: Testify in person at the city council meeting, July 10 at 3:30pm in Council Chambers - 3rd Floor.

Let us know you’re attending the July 10 City Council meeting by RSVPing through our Grand Avenue Action Alert!
