Here are some reasons we support the master plan:
Feel free to draw inspiration from the following talking points for your own message to the council:
The land use plan articulated in the Hillcrest Master Plan is well designed to balance the city’s most urgent priorities: expanding the supply of housing (both rental homes and homeownership opportunities), attracting living-wage jobs, expanding the city’s tax base, and becoming resilient to climate change.
We are pleased by the thoughtful design of streets, bicycle and pedestrian paths, accommodations for solar energy, and the plans to preserve healthy mature trees and wetlands where possible.
We are impressed with the Port Authority’s efforts to capture public input through its Community Engagement Workgroups, and have confidence that it will continue to work with the community to sharpen its vision for the site after the master plan has been formally adopted.
